Maths, Physics Revision Physicss Maths Physics Physics A Level Physics Home Maths Maths Revision hut BIDMAS This means Brackets Indices Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction Order of operation BODMAS is the same only indices is called ‘order’ Calculations are carried out in this order For example 3 x 2 + 6 (no brackets or indices so multiplication comes first) 3 x 2 = 6 so 6 + 6 = 12 3 x (2 + 6) (brackets come first) 2 + 6 = 8, so 3 x 8 = 24 3 - 3 x 2 (indices first then multiplication then subtraction) 3 = 9, 3 x 2 = 6 so 9 - 6 = 3 2 2 33 x 4 -1 +(3+2) Brackets first. 3 + 2 = 5 so now we have 33 x 4 – 1 + 5 Indices next. 33 = 27 so now we have 27 x 4 – 1 + 5 multiplication next 27 x 4 = 108 so now we have 108 – 1 + 5 = 112 Answer = 112 Click here to try try BIDMAS test top
